Well, they both lost a loved one who they were very close too, both are incredably stubborn so learning any life lessons (or anything in general) is a chore for them and being stubborn they have a hard time letting go of stuff like defeats and tragedy. Being in the wild and fighting for survival constantly probably doesn't help.
Jude's desire for revenge/obsesión with power and Hilde's desperation to resurrect her master plus the ambiguous to criminal acts she has committed to do this, which weigh on her conscience (ergo the nightmares), probably left them quite bitter.
But at least they recognized their problems and (at least started to) change for the better.

First. Omit "bloated men desperately" and that won't be completely true but not inaccurate.

Second. Mostly true and yes that is worth respecting, an antagonist (villain/evil or not) like that can make a work even better (vader, joker, skeleton king, etc.).

Third. Condemn the sin not the sinner, don't forget them but don't hold on to the instead learn and move forward, make yourself better than what you were but never forget that evil like good is a choice and not everyone knows the differences or cares so he could pick one or the other or be like Rick Sanchez and not care. in any case always remember that for better or for worse, people are who they choose to be and change is always the constant and better folk have fallen while the worst have risen (Vaders life) and while you may and probably shouldn't forgive the crime, the criminal can improve, you can always worsen, and the reverse, sideways, and vice versa can also be true.

You know, she is talented and powerful with or with out black magic, very pretty and (even if it was for cruel reasons) when she smiled sincerely in her first tumbler post she looked beautiful. To bad all of that is lost on someone who has lost their mind, wastes their time, energy, and power on a suckers game of revenge and lame evil crap.
I think the person she makes suffer the most is her trainer(maybe), watching
How her (possibly) beloved braixen has sunk so low. No one who truly cares and loves someone would ever want to see them like this; angry, empty, alone, and corrupted :(

She maybe evil but there is a difference between choosing to be evil and letting yourself become evil. A key difference is giving up on yourself (also having nothing better to do in life which is sad) and she reeks of someone who is compensating for (many) something(s).
Maybe one day she will realize that being evil and witchery takes more than it gives and gives you (pointless, mostly stolen) power but removes all meaning in it and makes it hollow (also, clearly, it does not guarantee success or happines and doesn't do much for you in the end, really) and make her trainer and Ignatius proud. If she ever works up the courage to look herself in the mirror.
