Of course the shifts are an in-universe way to explain away the stuff that got a retcon, likely all of the non-canon stuff over the years was the result of those shifts. There could be an infinite amount of time lines and possibilities, after all the moment you mess with time or alter a course of action a Butterfly Effect will always happen. This series simply has a way to do it now, and I feel a big one will happen soon.

Examples of the shifts could be events such as Shane dying while Raksha the wolf was at the height of his power in the Thieves Guild.

Or Java meeting Tanya.

Or Kuva eating Mika.

Or Java capturing Jabaro and Kuva.

Or even that very old comic where Kuva met her end by a particular jackal back when stuff was done for the fun of it.

Now for the sake of a solid time line and such, I doubt there is any room for non-canon stories, out of character moments, or non-canon events to continue going on anymore without the say so of the big cheese himself. And another way to easily sum up the changes to the time line is simple: Creative Differences.

Philosophy is flexible but ultimately most of it is the result of bloated men desperately trying to rationalize things they don't understand or to make sense out of a series of tragedies personal or otherwise.

One way to look at Shin in the story is that he is essentially Kylo Ren, yes he has killed people but there is a moral grey that motivates him. And like Kylo, whatever plans there were or are for him (many of which are put on the back burner), any and all hatred of dislike directed towards him is because of the actions he's done from audience perspective. Kylo Ren killed Han Solo, he injured Fin and left the audience wanting to hate him. Shin's actions towards Mika, Java and the cheetahs are the same in that regard and whatever people felt later. Though you have got to admit that there is something admiring about the gravity of how despicable, deceitful and downright nasty the way Shin did it.

In the end we can agree that the way things are have stirred up a lot of emotions, besides he probably isn't to bad of a guy. We've simply seen the worst of him which unfortunately has forever marked him as the one that killed Mika, just as Kylo Ren is forever marked as the man that killed everyone's favorite smuggler Han Solo. You can like it, hate it, or be indifferent but it won't change that it has happened. Besides regardless of personal feelings, we can all agree that it is better to forgive over actions fueled by lust, emotions or a misunderstanding. Second chances and redemption must be taken into account before you pass final judgement on a person's actions, perhaps there was another reason he did something that caused unwanted hatred, and I'm sure we have all had at least one moment like that in our life.

Regardless of how any of us feel, at our center we should just move on and let it go.

Why so serious about a story with fake death? You should take delight in the fact he archived something most villains never get to do. He killed the heroes with efficient ease and manipulation, the best part of it all is that people like you caused his tremendous victory. It was literally your choice along with countless others that led Fidchell to make the call, and now it is permanent in cement that Shin killed Mika, absolutely no turning back the outcome. It is laughable really, I was hoping he'd do it and he did it. Now that rabbit is scat like she deserved. Truth is evil always needs to win once in order to have victory. Even if time somehow turned back in the story the victory of the rat is permanently down in history. Get use to the idea he won and Mila is scat, Java is gone and the cheetahs are doomed. But don't worry, all you need to do is smile. And accept the fact that Evil has won and Good is dead.
